When we decided we would be buying a van to do the full tour we made the decision early on that we would do our best in helping others out along the way who needed rides. In early August we started a campaign on several of the Pearl Jam message boards seeking out people who would like to join us in the van. We were amazed at the response of people who needed rides and quickly had most of our connections filled.
We never missed or left a person along the way and only had 1 person not show up. In addition we were able to give several other people rides who were not pre-scheduled to join us, not to mention we picked up a hitchhiker or two. We can honestly say deciding to carpool this trip was probably one of the best decisions we had made. It allowed us to meet so many amazing people who we others would have never known.
